HURRAH!  You made it to the “Go Paleo” page, which means you’ve likely got one burning question on your mind:  So what exactly IS Paleo, anyway?

let’s start with a few truth bombs about what it’s not:

Myth:

The Paleo diet is all about eating tons of meat!

Fact:

The Paleo diet is all about eating quality meats & protein sources, balanced by tons of plant matter, incorporating some healthy fats and eliminating refined foods, added sugars, legumes and limiting dairy and alcohol (yup, there’s a TON of options in here!)

Myth:

The Paleo diet eliminates most normal things people eat?!

Fact:

The Paleo diet is not simply a diet, but rather a sustainable lifestyle based on a holistic approach to health & wellness incorporating solid nutrition, physical fitness, stress management and     quality sleep (and yes, meat!)

Myth:

The Paleo diet is for athletes and Cross-Fitters….

Fact:

While a diet high in saturated fats and quality protein can certainly fuel the athlete IN you, the    Paleo diet is for everyone! Whether you’re a new mom, a retired office-worker, a cycling enthusiast, a couch-potato or a super accomplished home-chef, you can eat your way to an invincible, high-octane, super-sexy new you!

Myth:

You have to eat organic to eat Paleo – and that’s pricey!

Fact:

While you should always choose the best quality foods you can afford, filling your plate with tons of veggies, some protein and a piece of fruit which aren’t organic is WAY better for your body than not eating them at all!  Besides, eating organic doesn’t apply to everything anyway!

Myth:

The Paleo diet isn’t sustainable, so it’s a great crash diet before beach season…

Fact:

Whoa, there!  I’ve been living a Paleo lifestyle for 6 years, effortlessly.  Yes, I said effortlessly.  All it took was a determination to not feel awful anymore, a willingness to embrace more veggies and healthy fats than I ever thought was good for me and an openness to getting crafty in the kitchen – and trust me, I’d never been crafty.  It was easy, I promise.  (Oh, and in time, you WILL rock that beach bod)

Myth:

Cutting out all that dairy & grains & legumes on a Paleo diet can’t be good for my health?

Fact:

It is.  These food groups are largely known to cause inflammation in your body, and what’s more, are quite difficult for your body to extract the nutrients they contain.  There are much more bioavailable foods for you to enjoy and benefit from on the Paleo diet!  You won’t miss a thing, really!

In a nutshell

The Paleo diet is a nutritional approach to not only eating but moving your body and managing your stress based on our genetic ancestry and the types of foods and activities that encouraged optimal genetic wellness over a 2.5-million-year period.  Way before processed foods, refined sugars, additives, artificial light and office jobs became the norm and began to destroy our health.  Eating foods that your body has evolved to thrive on means you automatically feel great when we eat them – because whole unprocessed food, regular physical movement and taking time out to play are all part of a basic language your body speaks – it understands & knows what to do with the information.

It’s back to basics, people.  And it’s delicious!
